Yes, yes, yes! It may be the narrow path, but it’s the wise one...and there are a few still traveling it.πŸ’žπŸ™

Then count me in their number still. Thank you, Debby!

I have always avoided the news because I find it depresses me. I like your choice of topic better than the AI suggestions. Thought provoking. Good questions to ponder.

Love the weightiness of these topics. Just what we needβ€”not necessarily what we want. Thank you for venturing forth, Lori, and not succumbing to the masses!

Lori Roeleveld's avatar

Well, I've done my share of succumbing, for sure. Trying to rise above.

Thank you for sharpening the focus on the trendy bits that are increasingly ubiquitous. Your alternative list of study and action points is a take away enrichment program. I appreciate your steadfast gaze onward and upward. Thank you! I want to come back to whittle on that worthy list.

Good to have agreement!

Great job as always Lori-It’s hard to keep one’s ear to the ground without getting drawn in.

I am leaning more into detaching from worldly chatter and focusing more on prayer lately.

Something that is weighing on my heart that I am struggling with - the temptation towards judgement and condemnation. In this, I want to be more like Jesus.

Thanks, Tammy. I'll consider that one. It's become quite a muddled topic, for sure.

I've tried to hit the happy medium of staying informed enough to be aware of what's going on in the world, but not letting it consume me. I've had to disengage from people and media outlets that are too caught up in the craziness so I don't get sucked in. Most of all, I pray every night that evil will be defeated and truth and justice will prevail and that God will keep our leaders safe and give them wisdom. I hope we can all pray for those things no matter how different or divided we might be on certain issues. Your list of alternate things we should be discussing sounds wonderful, hopeful, inspiring.

Perfect description of our common struggle!

I try not to dwell on the politics in today's world. I'm striving to move toward a more purposeful giving life. Just enjoying God's beauty everyday in the small things.

Lori Roeleveld's avatar

We don't talk enough about His beauty, do we? We must talk about it more. Recover the language of His beauty and His glory.

Excellent article. It's tempting to be stirred by current divisive trends instead of moved by the Holy Spirit and Word of God. Sometimes they overlap. But often they detract.

Lori Roeleveld's avatar

Indeed. Too easy to be sucked in!

I sure love the pictures that you included with your excellent email! They back up what you wrote SO well! Keeping ourselves β€œunstained from the world” is definitely a daily challenge, but, may we continue to trust in God’s protection and provision as we read His word, and as we fellowship with like minded fellow believers!πŸ€—πŸ₯°πŸ€—

Excellent as always Lori. A good resource for praying for the persecuted church is Iran 30 app.

Thank you, Lyn!

I love the idea that the tunes the children played are like the narratives that drive discourse today. And the link to Pilate--! I agree with your thesis. Something other than algorithm needs to drive my writing. While all those topics certainly have my attention, and my emotional responses, other people are far better equipped to contribute meaningfully. I think I'm more interested in sharing the good, the beautiful, and true of this creation and its Creator.

Lori Roeleveld's avatar

You're certainly equipped for that!

This is so good!! Thank you for sharing. A timely reminder!

Glad it worked for you!

I needed this reminder today. We choose what we let control our thoughts and actions. Thank you for the timely reminder.

I agree. I have to own my part in playing into the wrong narrative at times. Thanks, Debra!
